What is Hair Transplant ?

A hair transplant (also called hair restoration or hair implantation) permanently restores the hair by transplanting new follicles into balding or thinning areas. Healthy follicles are taken from other areas of the body, most often the back or the sides of the head. This can be done by removing a single strip of skin and hair or removing the follicles individually.

Process for hair transplant:

It is a surgical process that involves removal of hair follicles from any site in the body like face or legs and planting them on the hairless portion. This process is also used in transplanting hair in lashes and brows. The latest techniques are permanent and they pick up follicular clusters of hair. This process is called Follicular Hair Transplantation (FUT) which can be done in two ways, strip harvesting and follicular unit extraction (FUE). In strip harvesting, skin strips with good hair growth are planted on balding areas and in follicular unit extraction hair clusters with their roots are manually removed and planted at the hairless site. Strip harvesting is what the surgeons are mostly adopting these days. It leaves a slim scar at the donor site and promises recovery within two weeks.

FUE can be done in a single or several settings. It is a manual and time taking process but gives very natural results and leaves behind no marks. However, it is not a cost effective process and is time consuming both for the doctor and the patient. However use of robotics has reduced the time in this process and simplified it immensely.

What is Fat Injection?

Fat Injection procedure transfers fat from areas in which you have excess fat, such as the outer thighs, and injects it into areas that may be lacking in volume, such as your face, hands, breasts or buttocks. This safe, long-lasting, well-tolerated procedure produces natural-looking results. Every year, thousands of people undergo successful fat grafting and are pleased with the results. It is also known as fat grafting or fat transfer.

The 3 components of Fat Injection are:

– extraction of fat with liposuction
– processing and centrifugation of fat
– re-injection of fat

When to Consider Fat Injection

–  If you have facial areas that appear creased and sunken
–  If you desire more permanent correction than is provided by temporary fillers
–  For use in breast reconstruction, to fill in contour irregularities or hide obvious signs of breast implants

What is Low Light Laser Therapy?

The lasers used in LLLT are typically small (often handheld) units, and unlike surgical and aesthetic lasers, do not heat the targeted tissue. Instead, LLLT emits low levels of light that are absorbed by your mitochondria (the energy-producing organelles in many of your cells), which then can increase cellular energy production and ultimately help heal surrounding tissue. This process is comparable to plant photosynthesis, during which sunlight is absorbed by plants and converted to energy for the plants to grow.

Low-level laser therapy may sometimes provide an effective alternative to surgery or medications—without accompanying side effects. It can help regenerate tissue, reduce inflammation, decrease pain, and increase immunity.LLLT is used to: increase the speed, quality and tensile strength of tissue repair; resolve inflammation and relieve pain.

What is Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy treatment is a non surgical cosmetic solution aimed at diminishing problem areas in your body such as cellulite, excess weight, body contouring, and face/neck rejuvenation, just to name a few. It is administered via numerous injections containing various types of FDA approved medicines, vitamins, and minerals. What is Platelet Rich Plasma Method?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a component of your blood (plasma) with concentrations of platelets above normal values. PRP typically contains 3-8 times the concentration of normal platelet levels. After injury, platelets are on the front line of the healing response and play a critical role by releasing growth factors. These growth factors influence tissue repair in a variety of different cell types including tendon, muscle and cartilage cells. PRP was first used in dental and oral surgery to improve soft tissue healing in the 1990s. Its usage in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and sports medicine has increased over the past decade.

It is a common treatment nowadays in the cosmetic dermatological field. It stimulates fibroblasts within the skin and makes them produce collagen fibers. As PRP is made from one’s self blood, the treatment is regarded as very safe. The problem exists in rather a high cost of the PRP processing kit considering its mild efficacy. If there were a more economical way to process PRP, this treatment would become more popular and common. Moreover, although the treatment is empirically regarded as useful, there are still few scientific evidences.If more economical method were offered, researchers could access to various experiments much easier. From that point of view, the authors invented a unique method to prepare PRP using only medical disposables and a common laboratory centrifuge.

Who should opt for PRP?

People who have thinning hair, and those with androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness – hair loss at the top of the scalp and a receding hairline particularly along the temples), women with male pattern alopecia can all benefit from it.

Sonography can be used to examine many parts of the body, such as the abdomen, breasts, female reproductive system, prostate, heart, and blood vessels. Sonography is increasingly being used in the detection and treatment of heart disease, heart attack, and vascular disease that can lead to stroke.
3D Sonography scans show still pictures of your baby in three dimensions. 4D Sonography scans show moving 3D images of your baby, with time being the fourth dimension. It’s natural to be really excited by the prospect of your first scan. But some mums find the standard 2D scans disappointing when all they see is a grey, blurry outline. This is because the scan sees right through your baby, so the photos show her internal organs.
With 3D and 4D scans, you see your baby’s skin rather than her insides. You may see the shape of your baby’s mouth and nose, or be able to spot her yawning or sticking her tongue out. 3D and 4D scans are considered as safe as 2D scans, because the images are made up of sections of two-dimensional images converted into a picture. However, experts do not recommend having 3D or 4D scans purely for a souvenir photo or recording, because it means that you are exposing your baby to more ultrasound than is medically necessary. Some private ultrasounds can be as long as 45 minutes to an hour, which may be longer than recommended safety limits.

Computed tomography, more commonly known as a CT or CAT scan, is a diagnostic medical test that, like traditional x-rays, produces multiple images or pictures of the inside of the body. CT was developed independently by a British engineer named Sir Godfrey Hounsfield and Dr. Alan Cormack. It has become a mainstay for diagnosing medical diseases. CT of the body uses X-rays to perform its work. These X-rays come from an X-ray tube which is placed inside a square machine called the gantry. The part of your body to be scanned goes inside a hole in this gantry.
All parts of the body can be scanned with CT. For each part, there are specific indications or reasons for scanning. Your referring doctor and the consultant radiologist are the best judges of the usefulness of CT scanning in a specific situation and areas.

Using specialized equipment and expertise to create and interpret CT scans of the body, radiologists can more easily diagnose problems such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, appendicitis, trauma and musculoskeletal disorders.
